Rocklin honors local organizations with Business Legacy Awards
The City of Rocklin honored the Ruhkala Granite and Marble Company, Inc. and Sierra College with 125th Anniversary Business Legacy Awards on January 18.
The Business Legacy Awards were created as part of Rocklin’s year-long 125th anniversary celebration and honor local organizations that have made significant contributions to the success of the City’s economy in the past and present, as well as affecting the future.
City Council Unanimously Appoints Councilmember Ken Broadway as 2018 Mayor
Councilmember Ken Broadway was appointed to serve as Mayor of the City of Rocklin through November 2018 with a unanimous vote by the Rocklin City Council Tuesday night. Councilmember Joe Patterson was also installed as the 2018 Vice-Mayor with a unanimous vote.
Pioneer Community Energy to Provide Lower Cost Power
Placer County and its communities team up for lower costs and local authority
The County of Placer and the cities of Rocklin, Auburn, Colfax, Lincoln, and the Town of Loomis have partnered to create Pioneer Community Energy, which will begin providing energy to those jurisdictions in February, 2018.

Rocklin and Roseville Firefighters Partner to Clear Unknown Substance
The Rocklin Fire Department responded early this afternoon to the Goodwill store located at 6011 Stanford Ranch Road after receiving a report of an unknown substance discovered in a wardrobe box. Two employees had initially discovered and were exposed to the substance, which caused slight reactions.
Roseville’s Hazmat team was also called to the scene and together the firefighters followed Hazmat procedures which included evacuating Goodwill and the surrounding businesses before making entry wearing protective equipment.
Rocklin Firefighters Save Homes from Fire Burning Backyard Sheds
The Rocklin Fire Department responded to a fire on Sunday, Oct. 1 to find flames engulfing sheds and garbage cans on either side of a common fence between two homes. When the first engines arrived, the fire filled the space between the homes with flames contacting the walls and roof of each.
Aggressive, professional action from Rocklin Fire, with assistance from the Lincoln Fire Department, Roseville Fire Department and Cal Fire, kept the fire from causing major damage to either home.

Bill Hack, previously the Fire Chief for the City of Chico and firefighting professional for more than 20 years, has been hired as the Fire Chief for the Cities of Rocklin and Lincoln. Hack will begin his new duties on Monday, August 21.

In Rocklin City Parks
An ordinance fully prohibiting smoking in all city parks, recreation areas and city owned property will become effective on July 13, 2017. The no-smoking restriction includes electronic cigarettes and vaping devices.
U.S. Honor Flag Raised in Rocklin to Honor Heroes
The U.S. National Honor Flag was raised at the Rocklin Police Station on Monday, May 1, to honor Rocklin police officers, firefighters, first responders and military personnel who have lost their lives in the line of duty and those who currently serve our communities and nation.
Rocklin City Manager Rick Horst, The Rocklin Police Department and the Rocklin Fire Department participated in the ceremony with The Honor Network President and Co-Founder Chris Heisler.
Rocklin City Council Declares Support for Big Day of Giving
The Rocklin City Council encourages all Rocklin citizens to support of the Big Day of Giving by donating to a local non-profit close to their heart on Thursday May 4, 2017.
Close to 600 nonprofits throughout the region will participate in the BIG Day of Giving, 100 of which are located in Placer County and serve City of Rocklin residents.
Three leaders of hardworking non-profits making an impact and providing a sense of pride in the community were in attendance at the April 25 Council meeting, where the Council passed a resolution of support.
Upgraded Streetlights Installed in Rocklin
In partnership with Pacific Gas & Electric, the city of Rocklin has opted into a program to improve public lighting. PG&E has converted streetlights across the city from older, high-pressure sodium vapor lightbulbs to state-of-the-art LED lamps.
Rocklin Adventures at Quarry Park Open House
The first public open house to review initial design plans for the Rocklin Adventures at Quarry Park project will be held on Wednesday, March 8 at 5:30 p.m. at the Rocklin City Council Chambers.
Rocklin Chamber Honors City
The Rocklin Police Department and Quarry Park were honored by the Rocklin Area Chamber of Commerce at their annual Business Excellence Awards on January 26.
The Rocklin Police Department was given the “Beyond the Blue Line Community Spirit Award” for their work in building a relationship of confidence and trust within the Rocklin Community.
Rocklin City Council Approves Adventure Park Concept
The Rocklin City Council unanimously approved an agreement Tuesday night that could lead to the construction of an adventure park in the heart of Old Town Rocklin at the City’s Quarry Park.
Rocklin Adventures, which the concept is currently being called, would utilize the historic Big Gun Quarry and surrounding property to create an adventure park featuring zip lining, rock climbing, ropes courses and other outdoor activities.
Jill Gayaldo Appointed to Rocklin City Council
The Rocklin City Council has appointed Jill Gayaldo to fill a vacant seat on City Council with a term running through December 2018.
During a special meeting on January 5, the City Council interviewed 13 candidates who applied to fill the open seat. The interview process, including Council discussion and deliberation, was open to the public.
Rocklin and Sierra College to Host Mini Maker Faire October 1
On Saturday, October 1, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the City of Rocklin and Sierra College will host the Rocklin Mini Maker Faire & Sierra Celebration on the campus of Sierra College, 5000 Rocklin Road. The Rocklin Mini Maker Faire is one of just 200 in the nation and the only one licensed in the Sacramento area. This year, in conjunction with the Mini Maker Faire, Sierra College will be holding an open campus day to celebrate its 80th Anniversary and it’s ALL FREE!
Rocklin City Council Appoints New Member

interviewed nineteen candidates who applied to fill the open
seat. The interview process, including Council discussion
and deliberation, was open to the public.
Broadway is also seeking a four-year Rocklin City Council term
during the November election. If elected, he would resign
the current two-year appointment (the remainder of Ruslin’s
term), and accept the full four-year elected term.

alternatives, the City Councils in Lincoln and Rocklin both voted
last night to enter into a Shared Services Agreement (SSA). The
agreement allows Lincoln and Rocklin to share services related to
fire administration and fire prevention.
City of Rocklin Increases Transparency in Planning Process
In an effort that began in early 2015, the City of Rocklin has continued to investigate methods to increase transparency and expedite public notification in the planning process.
The City already provides more than twice the amount of public notification required by the State of California, and now the City has added an additional tool for the public to see development applications as quickly as possible.
