Do You Know Someone Who Should Be Nominated for a Ruhkala Award?
January 5, 2026
The City of Rocklin is now accepting nominations for the 2026 Ruhkala Community Service Awards, an annual recognition honoring individuals, youth, and organizations who make a meaningful difference through service to the Rocklin community.
Established to honor the legacy of Roy and Peggy Ruhkala, the awards celebrate the spirit of volunteerism, leadership, and long-term commitment that helps make Rocklin a great place to live. Each year, community members are invited to nominate those whose dedication often happens quietly but leaves a lasting impact.
Why Nominate?
Past Ruhkala Award recipients reflect the wide range of ways people serve Rocklin—through public safety volunteering, youth leadership, community kindness initiatives, historic preservation, and decades of behind-the-scenes service.
In 2025, honorees included:
- Volunteers who dedicated thousands of hours to public safety and community outreach
- Youth leaders who launched kindness and service initiatives in local schools
- Community advocates whose long-term efforts helped shape and protect Rocklin’s future
Their stories are a powerful reminder that service comes in many forms—and that recognition often begins with a simple nomination.
Award Categories
Nominations are accepted in four categories:
- Individual or Couple
- Business, Group, or Service Organization
- Youth (age 21 and under)
- Pioneer Award (for long-term service, awarded at the discretion of the City Council)
