Recycling

Overview

Recycling

In Rocklin, trash is sorted at the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) and everything that can be recycled is sorted and processed automatically without you having to sort anything. That’s why we only have one bin for trash and recycling!

Put Recyclables in Your Trash OR Bring Recyclables to the Western Placer Waste Management Authority (WPWMA). WPWMA is a regional agency that provides recycling and waste disposal services for Lincoln, Rocklin, Roseville and Placer County. WPWMA operates a Material Recovery Facility (MRF), pronounced ‘murf’, located at the landfill to help Placer County meet the state’s waste reduction goals.

Newspaper Recycling

The city has a newspaper recycling drop off area in Johnson-Springview Park behind the baseball fields at 5460 5th Street.

To get there, go to the back of the parking lot closest to the baseball fields and drive through the gate towards the gravel lot.

Cardboard Recycling

Recology (the provider of trash pick-up in the city) offers free curbside pick-up of cardboard. Simply place flattened cardboard in a 3×3 or smaller pile next to your toter on trash collection day and it will be collected free of charge.

Convenient Drop-Off Locations

Recycling centers are conveniently located throughout the region where you can recycle CRV cans, bottles, glass, PETE plastic, cardboard and newspapers. View a list of these and other drop-off sites at the national website, or call 1-800-RECYCLE.

Christmas Tree Safety & Disposal

The best way to dispose of your tree is by taking it to a recycling center or having it hauled away by a community pick-up service. The City of Rocklin offers convenient drop-off locations every year at Johnson-Springview Park and Twin Oaks Park between December 26th and January 6th.

General information

California SB 1383

Good News for residents!  You don’t need to do anything different when it comes to garbage, recycling and yard trimmings. The City of Rocklin will continue to use the same two bins (one for waste and recycling and one for green waste), and the separating will be handled at the local Materials Recovery Facility (MRF).  Visit www.placerrecycles.com for more information.
