Job Training and Student Assistance

The City has provided over $300,000 to support elementary, secondary, and college students in Rocklin. Funding has been provided to support the five programs combined between the Rocklin Unified School District and Sierra College.

Rocklin Unified School District Support - $115,898

The City of Rocklin has provided $115,898 in funding to the Rocklin Unified School District to launch three mental health support programs for students, faculty, and parents.

On-Site Mental Health Specialist

The first of these programs is funding for a Mental Health Specialist contract. This position would offer mental health support to students at Victory High School and offer support to homeless and foster youth students navigating their mental health needs.

Additional Day of On-Site Counseling

The second program provided funding to increase the presence of an on-site counselor to five days per week. On-site counselors offer individual and group counseling sessions, family support, and crisis intervention for no cost to the student or their families.

Care Solace Contract

Care Solace is company that provides mental health care coordination for students and families. They can assist students, families, and employees in removing barriers to mental health assistance by navigating the insurance process, scheduling counseling sessions, and connecting people to available resources. The ARPA funding provided paid for the cost of one year of a Care Solace contract for the entire district. Services under this contract can be used by students, faculty, staff, and parents.

Sierra College Foundation Student Support - $220,000

As part of a commitment to Rocklin students and youth, the City has provided $220,000 to the Sierra College Foundation to help Career and Technical Education Students and provide mental health assistance to students.

Career and Technical Education Student Support - $110,000

The City provided $110,000 to the Student Assistance Fund Endowment to provide grants for Career and Technical Education students to assist with basic needs. These funds are reserved for those students enrolled in Career and Technical Education programs who face circumstances that may stop them from attending college and continuing their education. These circumstances can include, but are not limited to: food insecurity; situational homelessness; health issues; transportation need; etc. Grants are awarded up to $1,500.

Student Mental Health Support - $110,000

The City has provided $110,000 to the Sierra College Foundation to support mental health assistance for students. This aid will allow 50 and 75 students with an identified mental health need will receive up to 10 one-on-one sessions with a licensed therapist at no cost. For more information about mental health services on campus, visit Sierra College's website here.

The funding will also be used to provide training to Rocklin campus counselors and Residence Hall Advisors to better respond when students are in crisis. In this way, these one-time funds are being used to build a support network for students long into the future. Trainings offered will include mental health first aid, violence prevention, and/or suicide prevention.
