Detectives

Overview

Detectives

Detectives proactively conduct investigations of crime, as well as perform follow-up investigations already begun by a patrol officer to make every attempt to solve a crime. Our plainclothes (non-uniformed) Detectives are supervised by a police sergeant, and typically are assigned to work during normal business hours, but their schedules are adjusted to meet workload demands. Rocklin Police Detectives are considered general investigators, meaning they are trained and experienced to investigate all crimes, rather than only a specific type of crime.

Detectives investigate crimes against persons and property, and primarily focus on felony crimes such as burglary, robbery, sexual assault and other serious crimes. They work closely with our Crime Scene Investigators to protect crime scenes, collect and preserve evidence. Detectives are also utilized to locate missing persons and investigate crimes against children. They are highly trained in up to date techniques of investigating crime, and are very skilled in the most modern technology available to law enforcement today.
