About the Department
The City of Rocklin Fire Department provides fire, emergency medical, hazardous materials response, and technical rescue services within a response area of 19.6 square miles. Within the last few years, the department has brought into service two new engines and a new Tiller ladder truck. The Rocklin Fire Department is made up of 42 dedicated, trained professionals who work tirelessly to keep the community safe through our three staffed fire stations, administration, and fire prevention. With a population that has grown by over 60% since the year 2000, the Rocklin Fire Department is constantly adapting and responding to the diverse and ever-changing needs of the community. Fire Department Positions
The Rocklin Fire Department employs Fire Suppression staff consisting of Firefighter/Paramedic’s, Fire Engineer’s, Fire Captain’s, and Battalion Chief’s. Fire Prevention staff consists of Fire Inspectors, a Fire Prevention Plans Examiner, a Fire Prevention Administrative Assistant and a Deputy Fire Chief/Fire Marshal. Fire Department Administration staff consists of a Fire Chief, Deputy Fire Chief, Executive Assistant and an Administrative Analyst.

Recruitment Process
The City of Rocklin recruitment process includes the following steps for most positions:
- The City of Rocklin Human Resources Division will receive and review applications for minimum qualifications.
- The recruitment will consist of a qualification screening, practical paramedic assessment, and oral panel interview.
- Applicants who pass the paramedic assessment will be placed on the eligibility list and, depending on rank, invited to an interview with the Fire Chief.
- Selected candidates will undergo a thorough background investigation, a pre-employment physical which includes a drug screen, and a pre-employment psychological evaluation.
- Upon successful completion of all pre-employment processes outlined in the conditional offer of employment, the City will make an official offer of employment and arrange for a start date.
