Accessibility-ADA

The City of Rocklin adopted an ADA Transition Plan to prioritize improvements within the City in order to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) federal legislation. The fundamental goal of the ADA is to ensure equal access to civic life by people with disabilities. The ADA specifically requires state and local governments to make their programs, services, and activities accessible to persons with disabilities and to evaluate its services, programs, and facilities and prepare a transition plan identifying barriers to access and outlining a plan to eliminate those barriers.

In 2012, the city awarded a professional service agreement to SZS Consulting Group to assist staff in conducting the ADA Self-Evaluation and prepare a comprehensive ADA Transition Plan. In 2016, the consultant completed a field evaluation of all pedestrian related facilities along city streets and other rights-of-way.

The final report of the barriers to access identified during the field evaluation was adopted by the City Council in 2016 and is currently available for review and public comment.

The City of Rocklin makes every effort possible to ensure all residents are able to travel throughout the City with ease, If you experience an impediment you would like addressed, please contact our Public Works Department at 916-625-5500 to speak with a staff member about your need. To submit a grievance pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, please contact the ADA Coordinator at 916-625-5514
