Message From City Manager Steve Rudolph on COVID-19

Rocklin City Manager Steve Rudolph

To all residents and businesses,

It is imperative the Rocklin community stay home as much as possible and practice social distancing protocols recommended by the Centers for Disease Control to slow the spread of COVID-19. This is not only for our individual health and safety, but for the wellbeing of our loved ones – young and old.

As of Wednesday, April 1, there were 78 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Placer County with a number of those in Rocklin. According to Placer County Public Health officials, the confirmed cases represent just a fraction of the actual cases in the Placer region, with increases expected due to community spread of the virus and increased awareness from testing.

I am particularly concerned with reports of significant numbers of people not following public health recommendations at Rocklin parks and open spaces. I understand the desire to enjoy the outdoors but we must do so with our health at the forefront of our minds.

A social distance of six feet from other people must be maintained at all times. The CDC has reported that 25% of people infected with COVID-19 may not even know they have the disease, but would be capable of transmitting it to others. According to the CDC, people that do develop symptoms may be capable of transmitting the disease at least 48 hours before the onset of any symptoms.

If you observe suspected violations of the Placer County Health Order in Rocklin, please email covid19@rocklin.ca.us or call (916) 625-5400 (Police Non-Emergency).

These are difficult times. People and businesses are experiencing hardships that many of us could not have envisioned only two weeks ago. Together as a community, I trust we’ll take the necessary actions to help slow the spread of COVID-19 and begin to recover.
