Rocklin Ranked the Best Place to Raise a Family in Placer County

The City of Rocklin was recently named the Best Place to Raise a Family in Placer County based on research by, a website that ranks cities, neighborhoods and schools in various categories.

The Best Places to Raise a Family ranking takes into account factors including safety, access to family amenities, affordability and schools, with much of the data sourced from the U.S. census or Niche’s own research.

The public education variable likely helped put Rocklin in the top slot, as two other rankings released in October recognized the quality of public schools and teachers in Rocklin.

Rocklin High School took the top ranking in the Best Public High School Teachers in the Sacramento Area category, with Whitney High School ranking 7th and Western Sierra Collegiate Academy 15th out of 25 listed. Rocklin elementary schools also dominated the Best Public Elementary Schools in the Sacramento Region list, taking the top two, and seven of the top 25 slots.

The school rankings are based on “rigorous analysis of key statistics and millions of reviews from students and parents using data from the U.S. Department of Education. Ranking factors include state test scores, student-teacher ratio, student diversity, teacher quality, grade school ratings, and the overall quality of the school district.”

High quality schools are part of the fabric of Rocklin and contribute to the City’s well-educated work force, high home values, average median household incomes approximately $12,000 higher than the state average, and much more.
