A VISION FOR THE FUTURE

The City of Rocklin is creating a long-term master plan for the Northwest Community Parks. This project is about designing a shared vision for three large park sites in Northwest Rocklin—so when the time is right, we’re ready to build something that truly reflects our community’s needs and values.

This plan is about ideas and designs—not construction. There is currently no funding available to build any part of this plan, and there is no timeline for construction. The plan will serve as a foundation for when opportunities arise in the future—whether that’s 5 years from now or further down the line.

Why Plan Now?

Without a thoughtful, unified plan, there’s a risk of developing these parks in bits and pieces—adding things randomly as ideas or funds pop up. This master plan will help us:

  • Prevent patchwork development
  • Design parks that flow and function well as complete spaces
  • Plan for future funding opportunities
  • Make sure the whole community has a voice in what’s created

What’s Happening Now

We have contracted with Melton Design Group (MDG), a landscape architecture team with experience creating parks that are engaging, sustainable, and tailored to the communities they serve. Over the next year, MDG will be working with City staff, local organizations, and—most importantly—you.

Project Timeline (2025–2026)

  • Spring–Summer 2025: Site visits, research, and community needs assessment
  • Fall 2025: Community workshops and engagement events
  • Winter–Spring 2026: Final draft plans, cost estimates, and presentations to City Council

Your Voice Matters

This master plan is shaped by you—our residents, families, sports groups, seniors, youth, and neighborhood organizations. We’re hosting a variety of engagement opportunities, including:

  • Community-wide workshops
  • Site-specific pop-ups
  • Online surveys
  • Stakeholder focus groups

Whether you’re a park regular or someone with a fresh perspective—we want to hear from you.

Common Questions

Q: When will the parks be built?
A: We don’t know yet. This project is about planning. No construction is scheduled, and no funding is in place.

Q: Where is the money coming from?
A: There isn’t any yet. This plan helps us be ready for future grants, partnerships, and funding opportunities when they arise.

Q: Can’t you just start small and build piece by piece?
A: We’re intentionally avoiding piecemeal development. A fully thought-out plan helps avoid waste, ensures spaces flow well, and saves money long-term.
