Jill Gayaldo, 2021 Mayor of Rocklin

I have been extremely honored to serve as Mayor of the City of Rocklin in 2021. This year has been a whirlwind of activity and excitement as I’ve been able to meet and interact with so many residents, business owners, and constituents.

Since December 2020, our community has succeeded in the face of numerous challenges.

Business has held strong and is poised for growth. The City has aided through flexible staff service options, programs to relax regulations, and direct monetary support to those hit hardest by the pandemic restrictions, with significant funding to be distributed in the next few years.

Signs of business resilience include planned locations of business headquarters, openings of desirable retailers such as Trader Joe’s, and the planned openings of Tractor Supply, Hobby Lobby and Bennett’s Kitchen. I urge everyone to shop local this holiday season and help continue to support Rocklin businesses.

I’ve also been proud of the efforts to continue to improving the parks and public infrastructure of Rocklin. Funding has been secured and work will begin in spring to expand the trial system at the Sunset Whitney Recreation Area, plans for a bike pump track at Whitney Park are being developed, and the 2021 concert season at Quarry Park featured more artists and attendance then ever.

On the infrastructure and public safety side of things, the extension of Whitney Ranch Parkway connecting northwest Rocklin was completed, the roundabout at the intersection of Pacific St. and Rocklin Rd. has been cleared for construction to improve traffic flow, and a new Rocklin Fire tiller truck is now in service which expands emergency service capabilities.

Of course, fiscal responsibility has been a priority throughout, with the City continuing key management practices to save money long-term and implementing a citizens’ investment advisory committee to take advantage of the knowledge of the professionals in our community.

There have been so many great accomplishments this year, and the efforts have not gone unnoticed. In October, Rocklin was recognized by Money Magazine as one of the Top 50 Best Places to Live in the U.S. The recognition by a national outlet is great and accolades like that are a nice feather in our cap, but to me it reaffirms what I see every day – that the people who live and work in Rocklin give their heart and soul to make our community a great place to live.

I thank you all so much for the kindness and support you have given me, it’s been an absolute honor to serve as your mayor, I look forward to continuing in my role as City Councilmember, and I wish you all a very merry holiday season and a happy new year!
