News

The Rocklin City Council convened for its regularly scheduled meeting on May 13, 2025, highlighting important community recognitions and reviewing the Police Department’s annual AB 481 military equipment report.

Honoring Public Safety and Service Contributions

The Council presented several proclamations to recognize the essential work of Rocklin’s public servants and raise awareness for critical issues:

May 11–17, 2025 was proclaimed as National Police Week, with May 15 designated as Peace Officers Memorial Day, in honor of law enforcement officers who have dedicated—and in some cases given—their lives in the line of duty.

May 18–24, 2025 was declared as National Public Works Week, recognizing the vital services and behind-the-scenes efforts of Rocklin’s Public Works team in supporting infrastructure, public safety, and sustainability.

Council also proclaimed May 2025 as Lyme Disease Awareness Month, helping increase public understanding of this complex and growing health concern.

AB 481 Military Equipment Policy Report

In compliance with Assembly Bill 481, the Rocklin Police Department presented its annual military equipment inventory and policy update. Adopted by City Council in May 2022, this ordinance ensures transparent use of specialized law enforcement equipment by requiring:

  • A publicly available policy prior to the acquisition or deployment of designated military equipment.
  • Annual reporting on any changes or updates to inventory and usage.
  • Thirty-day public access to the report and policy prior to council discussion.

The 2025 annual report and inventory update were posted to the Rocklin Police Department website in advance of the meeting and remain accessible to the public. No major changes to the approved inventory were noted.
