News

At the August 26 meeting, the Rocklin City Council celebrated youth leadership, honored community service, and advanced long-term housing planning.

Recognition of Summer Civic Career Program Students

Council recognized participants in the City’s annual Summer Civic Career Program (SCCP), held in partnership with Rocklin Unified School District and the Rocklin Educational Excellence Foundation. The program provides incoming high school seniors with a two-week immersive experience into municipal government, where students shadow staff across departments including executive administration, public safety, public services, communications, and parks and recreation. Graduates of the program receive a $500 scholarship, and many leave with a new perspective on local government careers and civic engagement.

Proclamation Honoring Chris May

Council presented a proclamation to Chris May for his dedicated service as President of Rocklin Little League since 2018. Under his leadership, the league has grown in participation and community impact, providing a safe and supportive environment for young athletes to learn teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. The proclamation highlighted his countless volunteer hours, mentorship, and contributions to youth sports in Rocklin.

Public Hearing – Housing Element Program 10 / General Plan Amendments

As required by State law, Council held a public hearing on the City’s 2021–2029 Housing Element, specifically Program 10 regarding alternative housing sites and related General Plan amendments. The Housing Element serves as Rocklin’s official policy document for meeting housing needs across all income levels and is part of the City’s compliance with the Sacramento Area Council of Governments’ (SACOG) Regional Housing Needs Allocation (RHNA).
