Rocklin is growing its recreation offerings in a big way. On Thursday, May 14, the City will break ground on a new 16-court pickleball complex at Sunset Whitney Recreation Area, a former golf course being reimagined as one of the city’s most dynamic community spaces. This facility is being built in direct response to the growing demand for dedicated pickleball courts in Rocklin, where existing courts are heavily used and space is limited. Designed to support everything from casual drop-in play to league matches and tournaments, the new complex will include ADA-accessible pathways, court fencing and surfacing, landscaping, and full site infrastructure. With an estimated construction cost of $2.5 million and an anticipated opening in late summer 2026, this project marks a significant milestone in the continued transformation of Sunset Whitney Recreation Area into a hub for community recreation.
