Rocklin City Council Appoints Planning Commissioner

Jill Gayaldo

Jill Gayaldo will be appointed to Rocklin’s Planning Commission by the Rocklin City Council at their meeting schedule for Tuesday, Oct. 25 at 6 p.m.

Gayaldo was chosen during a special meeting held on October 20, where the City Council interviewed 11 applicants for the Planning Commission seat formally held by Ken Broadway, who was appointed to City Council in September. The interview process for the Planning Commission position, including Council discussion and deliberation, was open to the public.

“We’re excited to have Ms. Gayaldo as the City’s newest Commissioner,” Mayor Greg Janda said. “She has experience in local business and land ownership, is a long-time active resident, and is committed to helping development in the City of Rocklin continue in the right direction.”

Gayaldo works as the Director for Transportation for the Elk Grove Unified School District, overseeing a department of more than 200 employees with an annual budget of approximately $14 million. She was also previously employed as the Rocklin Unified School District (RUSD) Director, Transportation.

Gayaldo’s community leadership experience includes serving as a School Site Council President at Del Oro High School, acting as Chair of the Rocklin Christmas Tree lighting event, volunteering with the Kiwanis Club, and serving as a member the Rediscover Rocklin business development group and Rocklin Residents Unite for Fido.

“I’m committed to the City of Rocklin, where my family has resided for nearly 100 years,” Gayaldo said. “I believe my experience as a Rocklin small business owner, resident and commercial landlord make me uniquely qualified for the Commission and I look forward to a new Rocklin that is a Placer County destination.”

Gayaldo’s current term on the Planning Commission will run through June 30, 2018.
