Rocklin Citizens Academy

Overview

Ever wonder what goes into running a city like Rocklin? The Rocklin Citizens Academy is designed to provide community members with a better understanding of the workings of their local government and give them a “behind the scenes” look at City services and operations.

The goal of the Rocklin Citizens Academy is to develop civic leadership and build a stronger city through well informed and engaged residents and business owners.

This free, five-week community education program covers a wide range of topics, such as:  how the annual budget is developed; what Police and Fire do every day to make Rocklin one of the safest cities in the region; what the city is doing to attract businesses and jobs – and much more. As part of the Academy, you will get a tour of the City’s Corporation Yard, City Hall, Police Department, and Fire Station where you will get a first-hand look at the vehicles, equipment and operations that keep the City running smoothly every day.

The Academy will introduce and explain the roles and operations of city departments and how they work together to serve the community. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions of the Mayor and city staff and discuss issues that are important to them.
